Designing for higher education at ccac
As a Graphic Designer for CCAC, I create a wide range of visual materials designed to support the college’s communication and marketing efforts across multiple departments and audiences. The work spans print collateral, event promotion, branded marketing materials, digital graphics, and large-scale publication design, all while maintaining consistency within the college’s visual identity system.
Because higher education design requires balancing accessibility, organization, and visual engagement, each project focuses on communicating information clearly while still feeling modern, approachable, and visually impactful.
Community Education Booklet
A large-scale publication project focused on organizing and promoting CCAC’s community education and continuing education offerings across multiple semesters. Originally beginning as a freelance project, the booklet required a complete reconstruction after the original Adobe InDesign working file was lost.
Working under a limited production timeline, I rebuilt the publication system from the ground up while refining layout structure, typography systems, page organization, and print production workflows to ensure long-term consistency and reliable print quality.
Since the reconstruction, I have continued maintaining and refining the booklet for each semester release, improving:
layout consistency
typography hierarchy
content organization
print preparation
production efficiency
Student Handbook & Dual Enrollment Booklets
A collection of publication refinement and production-focused projects centered around CCAC’s Student Handbook and Dual Enrollment Booklets. These projects focused on improving the organization, usability, and long-term maintainability of large-scale Adobe InDesign publications used across both print and digital formats.
While the original publications were not created entirely from the ground up by me, I played a major role in restructuring and refining the files to create cleaner, more efficient systems for ongoing edits, semester updates, and production preparation.
The work involved reorganizing layouts, refining typography systems, improving content flow, and optimizing file structures to ensure the publications remained easier to manage, update, and distribute across multiple formats.
A major focus throughout both projects was balancing:
accessibility
readability
consistent visual hierarchy
production efficiency
digital adaptability
reliable print formatting
These refinements helped improve both the user experience of the publications themselves and the internal workflow required to maintain them over time.
Marketing Flyers & Promotional Collateral
Designing promotional materials used across multiple departments, programs, and campus initiatives throughout CCAC. These materials are created to support student outreach, event promotion, academic awareness, and community engagement while maintaining consistency within the college’s branding system.
Projects often require balancing clear communication with visually engaging layouts that can adapt across both print and digital platforms.

The redesign process focuses on improving:
readability
visual hierarchy
accessibility
branding consistency
information organization
print functionality
Because each program contains unique content requirements, the project involves creating flexible layout systems that can scale across a wide variety of academic departments while maintaining a cohesive institutional identity.

Reflection
Working within CCAC’s marketing and communications environment has strengthened my ability to design at both a systems level and a production level across a wide range of formats, audiences, and institutional needs. From large-scale publication design and marketing collateral to visual identity development and long-form document refinement, these projects required balancing creativity with structure, accessibility, and efficiency.
Many of the projects involved managing complex information systems, refining existing workflows, and adapting designs for both print and digital distribution while maintaining consistency within the college’s branding standards. The experience also reinforced the importance of organization, collaboration, and adaptability when designing for higher education environments that serve diverse audiences and rapidly evolving communication needs.
Through these projects, I further developed my skills in:
editorial and publication design
large-scale InDesign workflow management
typography and information hierarchy
print production preparation
scalable visual systems
institutional branding
multi-format marketing design
Overall, this body of work reflects my ability to create thoughtful, functional, and visually engaging design solutions that support communication, accessibility, and community engagement within large organizational systems.
